Welcome to McClain Heritage.com. This website was created to share research and family history for McClain families everywhere. Our line of the McClain family has been traced to James McClain (or McLain) who was born in 1818 in Hagerstown, Maryland. He migrated westward to Greene County, Ohio then to Warren County, Illinois and finally settled in Caldwell County, Missouri. At least six generations of McClain’s were born in Caldwell Co., but few if any remain there today.

We are working on possibly adding old issues of the McClain Exchange newsletter, which was a collection of McClain research compiled and published by Don Marsh in the 1990’s.
